Diagnostic Characters: Elongate with filiform tail, number of myomeres (>300), preanal myomeres increase in number with size (fewer than 100 in small leptocephali and 230-260 in leptocephali >100 mm), gut long and simple without swelling. Distinguished from Avocettina infans by: position of liver (myomere 40) and last vertical blood vessel (80-100th myomere)
